Anyone legally allowed to carry a gun, including those without concealed carry permits, would be able to do so up to a school’s property line under Senate Bill 101 Another measure would clarify that laws restricting concealed carry at parades apply only to those actually in the parade, not those watching. New Orleans jail escapee Lenton Vanburen Jr. was arrested Monday in Baton Rouge and two others were captured north of Houston. Following a tip, Vanburen was apprehended while sitting on a bench near a department store at Hammond Aire. Vanburen had been scheduled for a mental competency hearing Thursday after having asked the court to represent himself in a 2021 second-degree murder case.
