Your Monday evening update from the Lancashire Post
View email online | | | | | Jan 5, 2022 | | | | | | Good evening, In May this year, it will be five years since the Manchester Arena bombing. Twenty two people, many of them youngsters or parents who were waiting to pick them up, died in the attack following an Ariana Grande concert in the city. It was a shocking time for everyone in this region, many of whom had been in that building for concerts themselves. We are currently in the middle of the public inquiry into what happened that night and the emergency response to those events to see what lessons can be learned. And now a memorial to the 22, including four people from Lancashire, has been officially opened in Manchester. The Glade of Light white marble halo contains capsules put together by relatives containing messages and memories of their loved ones. It will provide a place of reflection and remembrance for those directly and indirectly affected by the events of that terrible night. While we may be five years on, time has probably stood still for many of the families, so let’s hope this lovely space can provide some peace. Until next time, take care, Gillian Contact me at gillian.parkinson@jpimedia.co.uk | |
