Let's talk crawfish. Yes, crawfish.

Looking back at the crawfish season that wasn't earlier this year, the LSU AgCenter estimated around $140 million worth of losses to the industry stemming from the heat and drought of 2023.

Now the rebound begins.

You'll want to check out Joanna Brown's story about the industry this morning. She scored this outlook from Todd Fontenot with LSU AgCenter: "Producers are adding water to their fields and crawfish ponds, and this signals them to start emerging and dispersing their young. That's what we hope happens at this time of year, and it's happening." 

It's too early to talk prices, sources emphasized, but the 2025 season could be a plentiful year.
