Hello Litquakers, Thankfully the weeks-long torrential downpour has come to a close, and with that the Litquake calendar is kicking off! First, we’re welcoming a cavalcade of comedians to the city by the Bay for the funniest festival on the West Coast, SF Sketchfest. We’re co-presenting not one, but two events this weekend. Unfortunately, Celebrity Autobiography is already sold out, but you can still grab tickets to The Comedy Pack. Then, in February, we’re celebrating the launch of Black Fire This Time, Vol. 1, an anthology of poets and writers engaging with the legacy of the Black Arts Movement. 13 poets will grace the stage at MoAD, offering not only their writing, but an accompanying multimedia exhibition that is not to be missed. It’s all happening, people. Grab tickets below, and hold on to your hats. You’ll be seeing a lot more of us this year. |

Come watch an all-star cast perform an afternoon reading of short comedy plays written by Emmy nominee and Drama Desk winner Eugene Pack. The program of five short comedies will tackle a wide variety of issues including lemons, sex, mortality, frenemies and the importance of an everything bagel. Featuring John Ross Bowie, Lucy Davis, Tim Kazurinsky, Oscar Nunez, Mary Lynn Rajskub and George Wendt. |

Join us for live readings and a community dialogue with 13 poets featured in the critically-acclaimed anthology Black Fire This Time, Vol. 1. This event will also mark the premiere of the Black Fire This Time Touring Exhibition, a multimedia showcase that you can experience at MoAD. Celebrating the history and legacy of the Black Arts Movement, this anthology contains the work of over 100 Black poets and writers and the last living legends of the movement, including Sonia Sanchez, Ishmael Reed, Eugene B. Redmond and Askia Touré. This intergenerational collection is a conversation bridging the founders of the movement with contemporary writers in the tradition. This event is hosted by Aquarius Press and co-presented by the Friends of the San Francisco Public Library and Litquake, in honor of Black History Month. A book signing will follow the reading. |
