An Award winning artist, Lisa DeBaetsviews her art as two-dimensional sculptures, molding and building layers while staying intuitively open to the possibilities of each painting. She begins with color, using bold, expressive strokes responding to the different media reflecting the spontaneity and joy felt while sliding paint across the surface. She says, "Color is my thing!"
Inspired by the beauty of God's creation, her husband's joyful smile, and the love in her little dog's eyes, Lisa began painting shortly after moving to the Seattle area from the Midwest, saying art has made a major impact on her life. Painting in numerous styles in the past, she is currently having great success with expressive, exciting abstracts done in watercolor and acrylic mixed media on a variety of surfaces.
Lisa is active in numerous art communities, including NWWS, co-chairing two exhibitions. She is the founder of Sketchers R Us, encouraging women to create daily and meet regularly for urban sketching.
Lisa's art is held in many private collections, has been accepted into many local shows and juried into the 2021 Peninsula Art League Open Show winning the First Place Award, the Indonesia International Watercolor Online Exhibition, the San Diego Watercolor Society's 40thInternational Exhibition and won 2 bronze awards in Camelback Gallery's Bold Abstracts 2021 International Painting Competition.
