| Michael Rapino knew about Travis Scottâs âdangerous concert anticsâ says court filing as Live Nation desperately tries to avoid CEOâs deposition in Astroworld case | | Live Nationâs lawyers are due to make another filing with the Supreme Court in Texas today as they work extra hard to try to stop CEO Michael Rapino from having to sit for a deposition as part of the ongoing Astroworld litigation.
The lawyers are responding to a recent court filing that again set out arguments for why Rapino should be forced to answer questions under oath in relation to the fatal crowd surge at the 2021 edition of Travis Scottâs Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas. That filing outlines Rapinoâs personal role in securing Live Nationâs business relationship with Scott, and in decision making and communications in the immediate aftermath of the Astroworld tragedy.
He also knew about Scottâs reputation for encouraging reckless behaviour at his live shows, the filing claims. From the off, âRapino knew of Scottâs dangerous concert antics, which include inciting crowds, encouraging concertgoers to disregard security and attack concertgoers he identifies in the crowd, and encouraging fans to attempt to attend his concerts without a ticketâ. | Read the full story | |

UK record label trade group BPI has released the second episode of its Innovation Podcast series featuring Chantal Epp from ClicknClear and Olivier Parfait from Sony Music. | đ Read today's One Liners in full | | Playboi Carti didnât issue malicious takedown in beat beef, court rules | | A US court has ruled that Playboi Carti and Universal Music did not knowingly issue an improper copyright takedown notice against a video on Twitter because the rapper was annoyed that another track had used the same beat as a song on his debut album.
An invalid takedown notice was submitted on behalf of the rapper, real name Jordan Carter. However, the Universal employee who submitted it didn't know that the claim was invalid, the court ruled.
And while Carter âmay well have been aware of and displeased withâ the track contained in that video, the lawsuit against him âfailed to establish that Carter had any part in the takedown noticesâ. In fact, itâs âundisputedâ that Carter never âcommunicated with or metâ the relevant Universal exec.
