Celebrate a uniquely American art form with Take 5: Jazz at SAAM, a series of free, live performances in the Kogod Courtyard. DC’s Different Drummers, an LGBTQ+ non-profit music organization, brings their DCDD Jazz Band, a 23-piece big band and a small improvisational combo called 2nd Independence, to perform a selection of jazz arrangements of popular Pride anthems, past and present.
Borrow a board game to play during the concert and stop by the Courtyard Café to purchase refreshments. We encourage registration to aid us in our planning for the program. |

| Conservation Workshop: Caring for Frames Saturday, June 28, 9 a.m.
Smithsonian American Art Museum MacMillan Education Center $30 | Registration required Tickets available beginning June 9. Join retired frames conservator Martin Kotler in a gallery talk about his work conserving SAAM’s frames for over 42 years followed by a hands-on workshop to learn about frames conservation, repair, and stabilization methods. Attendees will receive a kit containing materials that they can use at home for frame care.
Participants may not bring their own frames to the workshop. |
