Dear Almanac readers, You're invited to a live broadcast of the total solar eclipse--happening this Tuesday, March 8. It's FREE and feeding right to our Eclipse page here. Since this great spectacle is NOT visible from North America, we'll arranged for front row seats as Bob Berman, Almanac astronomer, and his crew at SLOOH bring you the live stream through their telescopes on Tuesday. Mark your calendars! Here are the times of the Live Show: Live stream starts: 3:00 PM PST ¦ 6:00 PM EST ¦ 23:00 UTC Live stream ends: 6:00 PM PST ¦ 9:00 PM EST ¦ 02:00 UTC Totality will start at 7:37 PM EST, when the Moon will completely block out the Sun's light and enshroud the coverage area in darkness. In addition to seeing the solar eclipse, they'll be "pregame" show leading up to the event, as well as live feeds from several other locations along the eclipse path. A total solar eclipse isn't just about the Earth turning dark, eerie as it is. Only in this total darkness do the brighter stars emerge. Only in darkness do we see the Sun's ultrahot corona or outer atmosphere and pink nuclear flames leaping from the Sun's surface. Enjoy free tickets to the hottest show on Earth!
