| | | Playground renewals and projects in your suburb In 2023-24, we replaced 10 playgrounds across seven suburbs, and have just finished the playgrounds in Market Garden Park, Spearwood, and Dandjoo Park in Hamilton Hill. Each year, several playgrounds have equipment that is a little worse for wear after years of use, which we need to replace. Before installation, we produce several design options for each playground before asking residents to rank them. Is your local playground getting an update? You can easily search for projects in your suburb by visiting our website. | My Suburb |

| | Protecting our endangered Fairy Terns Did you know a precious species of Fairy Tern makes it home along Cockburn’s coastline? The Australian Fairy Tern is a migratory shorebird that is listed as 'vulnerable' in Western Australia. It is estimated that there are fewer than 3,000 breeding pairs in Western Australia and at least one quarter of those birds breed in the broader Perth metropolitan region. The City is engaged in number of projects to protect these birds, including the protection of nesting sites at Woodman Point and ongoing initiatives to support Fairy Terns across Western Australia. Now, you can help too! The City recently developed a Fairy Tern Conservation Guide in collaboration with the WA Seabird Conservation Network (WASCN). This guide offers insights into the Fairy Tern's habitat, behaviour, and the crucial steps we can take to protect them. Together, let's embrace our role as stewards of the environment, ensuring the continued presence and prosperity of Cockburn's Fairy Terns for generations to come. | Explore the guide |
