Media Winners & Losers

MEDIA WINNER:
Bianca Buono

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) doubled down on her controversial comments comparing Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to the Nazis because of her mask rules for the House, telling a local Arizona reporter that she had said nothing wrong, and “any rational Jewish person” should also oppose “what’s happening with overbearing mask mandates.”

That local reporter, Bianca Buono from Arizona’s 12 News, spoke to Greene after the event she held in Mesa, AZ. with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and asked her if she stood by her comments “comparing mask mandates to the Holocaust.”

“I said nothing wrong," Greene insisted.

Well, the popular consensus is that Greene said a lot that was wrong

Buono asked Greene fair questions and gave her multiple chances to back away from her offensive comments. Greene chose to keep on digging

MEDIA LOSER:
Rick Santorum

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) is now a former CNN pundit as well, as the network quietly let him go this week, reportedly because he blew his shot at apologizing for comments about Native Americans.

“We birthed a nation from nothing,” Santorum said during a speech to a conservative youth group in April. “I mean, there was nothing here. I mean, yes, we have Native Americans, but candidly that — there isn’t much Native American culture in American culture.” The backlash was loud and swift, with many calls for CNN to fire him.

Santorum went on Chris Cuomo's show in early May for what was supposed to be a public mea culpa. Instead, viewers got a meandering filibuster of an excuse. During the transition from Cuomo Prime Time to Don Lemon's program, Lemon absolutely erupted about Santorum's "horrible and insulting" comments.

CNN finally had enough and quietly ended Santorum's contract. Read all about it here.

The A-Block

Fight fight fight fight...

"Sounds like somebody's got a case of the Mondays!" (These spats, kerfuffles, squabbles, and quarrels didn't all happen on Mondays, but we're not going to turn down a perfect time to quote Office Space.)

The View was more contentious than usual, when Meghan McCain mentioned Greene's Holocaust comments and compared her to "The Squad." This set off a multi-segment verbal brawl between McCain, Whoopi Goldberg, and Joy Behar

The Associated Press is getting called out by their own reporters over the firing of Emily Wilder, with more than 100 AP staffers signing a letter demanding more transparency from the company.

Fox News' Outnumbered panel didn't see eye to eye regarding the recent news about CNN's Chris Cuomo advising his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY).

Charles Barkley slammed the NBA after LeBron James broke Covid-19 protocols, saying that they "ain't got the balls to f*cking suspend" James. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith had some harsh criticism for James' silence about the vaccine as well.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) seems to have had a great weekend, enjoying the local scenery along with many other New Yorkers after the state’s mask rules and business capacity limits were lifted a few days ago.

He even joined in with some street performers in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Park Slope to sing a classic Frank Sinatra hit.

Watch Schumer belt out "New York, New York" (what else?) here.
