Stepping down: The longtime leader of the Audubon Nature Institute is hanging it up. Ron Foreman, who led the zoo through a series of improvements that made it one of the best in the U.S., will retire next year, Stephanie Riegel reports. Bolstering NOPD: The New Orleans Police Department desperately needs officers, but efforts to bolster the ranks have so far been more miss than hit. Interim Superintendent Michelle Woodfork has set a goal of having 1,200 officers in the next two years. Achievable? Weather watchin’: ‘Tis the season.
