Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade postponed, will not take place in January 2021

Dear friends and colleagues,

By now you are aware that the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade will not take place as planned, from 21-31 January 2021. Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, FISU has decided, in consultation with all stakeholders that later dates for the event will be considered.
However, we know it is not going to be an easy path, as the world continues to deal with unprecedented uncertainty. It is at such times that it helps to focus on the positives, and on the things that we know for sure will happen in the near future.
We have three events coming up that we can all turn our attention to, for the moment: the FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy later this week, the International Day of University Sport on 20 September and then, the 2020 World University Championship Mind Sports in October.
Thankfully, the Organising Committee in Bydgoszcz, Poland, has been able to switch to an online format and we are happy that it will go ahead. But first, get set for IDUS 2020 and let us know your plans. FISU Oceania have already shared their plans with us and they sound like a lot of fun! Find out more in our news updates below.

We wish you a good fortnight ahead,
Your FISU team
