Los Angeles June 3, 2020 Letter from the editor: It's been a devastating, but also inspiring week. Here are some of the ways that we at Hyperallergic have been covering the Black Lives Matter protests and unraveling events: A mural becomes a memorial site for Minneapolis residents to honor George Floyd and mourn his death.Minneapolis scholar and photographer Artyom Tonoyan documented the protests in Minnesota’s largest city on Thursday, May 28. Museums are criticized: the Nelson-Atkins Museum allows police to station on its premises; the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is accused of censoring Black voices and not directly addressing racial injustice. And here are a couple of things you can do: If you are able to donate $250 or more to one of these advocacy organizations, photographer Paul Mpagi Sepuya will give you one of his prints. The Los Angeles Gallery is launching an online program this Saturday called Care Practice: Recipes for Resilience. Taking a cue from Audre Lorde, the session will consider how we can transform "silence into language and action." To attend, organizers are asking to donate to national bailout funds. Anyone who provides receipt for a donation of $250 and upwards will receive a print by the photographer.
