Louisiana is installing air-conditioning at its prisons. Most other Southern states are not. Why are we?

There's more trouble at an OYO motel. During the weekend, a man was booked in the death of his 2-year-old son. It's the latest in a series at a motel that's drawn scrutiny over crimes and other incidents over the past few years.

Brian Kelly's first LSU team isn't ranked in the coach's Top 25 football poll. It's the first time this century that the Tigers haven't opened the season somewhere in the rankings. (The year 2000 was the last year of the 20th century.) Kelly's former team is in the poll: Notre Dame is picked fifth.
