One of the best drives in Michigan, truly, is taking a left after having just gone over the Mackinac Bridge and heading west along U.S. 2 - fully prepared for the unknown adventure that the Upper Peninsula always brings. But about 30 minutes later, with some smoked fish from Gustafson's now acquired, you cross a bridge and might not even know it. Absolutely do yourself a favor, and then next time you drive this route, keep your eyes out 25 miles west of St. Ignace and pull over before the Cut River Bridge. Then get out of your car in the lot and walk over to see a breathtaking, historic bridge that was right below you the whole time. |
