There’s no perfect road map for navigating these issues, but today’s speakers are experts in adolescent mental health and want to help parents have better relationships with their teens. Clinical psychologist Lisa Damour wrote “The Emotional Lives of Teenagers,” after demand for her professional help skyrocketed during the pandemic, and developmental psychologist Laurence Steinberg released “You and Your Adult Child” at a time when more Americans in their 20s are living with their parents than ever before. 20 YEARS OF IDEAS | Love as a Radical Act | In 2019, award-winning musician, actor, and activist Common opened the Afternoon of Conversation with author and Harvard business professor Arthur Brooks. They discussed Common’s memoir, “Let Love Have the Last Word,” which examines love as an action and a tool for self-betterment and healing humanity. “It takes a lot of work to hate,” Common said. “It weighs on individuals or people who decide to do it.” Watch the two of them explore how art builds empathy and what it takes to meet hate with love, capped off with a freestyle rap! 🎥 Watch
