The mean number of pay TV set-top boxes per household is 1.7, the firm said. | THE TAKE: MCN
| | #2 Comcast Adds 42,000 Video Subscribers | Comcast reported on Thursday that it added 42,000 video subscribers (residential and business) in Q1 2017, its third straight quarter of basic video growth. Comcast ended the period with 22.5 million total video customers, fueled by an increase of 32,000 video subscribers on the residential side and 10,000 business video additions. | WHY THIS MATTERS: Last year, Comcast reported its first full year of basic video customer growth in a decade, adding a total of 161,000 video subscribers. | | #3 Altice USA Peeks Over-the-Top | In an NAB keynote session moderated by Multichannel News and B&C editorial director Mark Robichaux, Altice USA chief Dexter Goei said that he is talking to programmers about possibly adding access to non-linear OTT content to the cable companys lineup. | WHY THIS MATTERS: Goei said that integrating some OTT content is the logical next step. While it appears that Altice would offer non-linear shows in concert with its traditional line-up instead of as a replacement or in a separate package, it shows that the Altice USA CEO is ready and willing to think outside the box. | 2 TAKES: MCN | Rapid TV News
