Bearly made it: Dog makes an incredible rescue Dogs are known for being loyal and courageous, and itâs not unheard of to find dogs rescuing people and smaller animals. So when a local dog from Bristol, Virginia came home with a live bear cub in its mouth, its owners werenât too surprised at the heroism. The three week-old cub had been abandoned in a nearby forest and was lucky enough to come across the friendly pooch, who carried it to safety. Thankfully, authorities were relieved to discover several mother bears lived in the area who would be able to care for the cub. Apparently, the mothering instinct is so strong in these animals that theyâll easily adopt stray cubs in the wild. Between rescue dogs and adoptive bear mothers, maybe humans could learn a thing or two. A city is no place for bears, anyway.
