Dear friend, Today marks the 22nd anniversary of 9/11, a day that shook the world when the collapse of the Twin Towers in New York claimed three thousand innocent lives. Today, as we stand united in the fight against terror, we find ourselves on the threshold of the Hebrew New Year, Rosh Hashanah. It is a time to reflect on the trials of the past year while fostering hope for a safer, more secure future. The harrowing images from that fateful day in 2001 remain ingrained in our collective memory, as a stark reminder of the pervasive threats that exist, not only in the United States but globally. While the threat of Islamic terrorism may not seem as prevalent in the US today, it is a grim reality we face daily here in Israel. In the last few months alone, we have witnessed 12 new terror attacks, each one a chilling echo of the violence that struck the US two decades ago, and that is the reality that people of Israel live with every single day. At Zaka Tel-Aviv, we are on the front lines of this battle, working tirelessly to safeguard our community and provide immediate assistance in the wake of these attacks. Our trained volunteers are often the first on the scene, offering medical aid, support, and guidance to those affected. As we stand on the cusp of Rosh Hashanah, we are reminded of the vital role we play in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. But we cannot do it alone. We need your support to continue our mission, to be prepared to respond at a moment's notice, to be the beacon of hope in times of darkness. |
