Spring Class Highlights

The Natural Way To Draw

- With Color!

Instructor: Donna Moore

Add dynamic intensity to figure drawings with the impact of color. Emphasis on value study and structural color fields: not realistic rendering.

Experiment with paper prep, creating a variety of surfaces and palettes.

(Repeat and new students encouraged.)

Exploring Watercolor

Instructor: Janice Castiglione

This is 6 weeks of exploring the characteristics of watercolor. Different techniques - wet in wet, dry painting, masking fluid and other treatments.

For 3 of the weeks I will provide a photo that we will paint together and the in between weeks it'll be your choice.


You need some drawing skills for this class. Adult: Intermediate

Paint Like the Masters:

Van Gogh a Go Go

Instructor: Kirah Van Sickle

This 4-Week course pulls inspiration from noted post-Impressionist masters, including Van Gogh, Cezanne and Gauguin, with a focus on color and brush-handling confidence. This is an opportunity to explore abstract color, expressive brush strokes and texture, and invigorate your painting practice.

Raku

Instructor: Renato Abbate

Raku firing is an ancient Japanese firing technique developed by Zen Buddhists. During this firing process, pottery is removed from the kiln while it is red hot and then placed immediately into a container that holds combustible materials such as: sawdust or newspaper. Once the lid is placed on the container the ceramic piece is starved of oxygen creating a unique effect on the surface of the pot. In this class we will make forms in preparation for our Weekend Raku workshop scheduled for Saturday,

The Revolutionary Print: Printmaking works in the

Belden Collection

Instructor: Benjamin Billingsley

Discover works that challenge your preconceived notion of the limitations of printmaking techniques as you explore the various styles of prints in the Louis Belden Collection. Develop a greater understanding of the works of Roy Lichtenstein, Pablo Picasso, Joseph Albers and Claes Oldenburg.

Printmaking Studies: Intro to Drypoint

Instructor: Antoinette Vogt

Learn the intaglio printmaking process of drypoint in this three day workshop. Developed in the late 15th century, drypoint is a technique in which drawing is scratched directly into a printing plate by using a pointed tool. Rembrandt used this method to relay his spontaneous, expressive drawing style, creating rich blacks as well as subtle shades of gray. Students will learn the basics of plate making, inking and printing using an etching press.

Let's Paint Glass

Instructor: Jeri Greenberg

In this one-day workshop learn to paint a still life of glass pieces, explore reflections and shadows and how all the surrounding colors affect the glass.
