Make Mom Feel Special | Mother’s Day is a bit of a juggling act for me. I have three wonderful mothers to celebrate: in addition to celebrating my wife, who is in the thick of mothering our three young children, I have my mom and my mother-in-law, both of whom live in the area. It can be a challenge to arrange dinner and gifts for all three. But I’m not complaining (well, maybe a little) because I have the incredible fortune of having these wonderful mothers in my life! One fun way to make Mother’s Day meaningful is to get the kids involved. Our Celebrate Moms resource has ways children can publicly honor their moms at church as well as crafts ideas and activities to make mom feel extra special. Also, check out this powerful piece on why Visitation is Still Our Vocation. Tyler C. Arnold writes: “The pastoral office embodies the activity of visitation; they are one and the same in function and essence. Simply put, pastors are visitors.” And, as Arnold contends, this is true, even in a pandemic. |
