Now that downtown Lafayette is populated with restaurants, bars, parks, shops and museums, there's an effort to make the district safer and cleaner. Kevin Blanchard, the new CEO of the Downtown Development Authority, plans to make that happen through a city ordinance that targets underage drinking, a new neighbor-to-neighbor initiative and offering better services for those experiencing homelessness.
