Mars Retrograde Dear John, Blessings to you and yours!
Have you ever helped heal a mountain?
I was part of a group of about 20 shamanically inclined folks yesterday on Beaucatcher Mountain, near downtown Asheville, NC. We gave this beautiful apu (mountain spirit) some much-needed love and nurturing.
Beaucatcher Mountain has suffered a lot of abuse in recent decades. A massive gouge was cut from it when an interstate highway loop was created through downtown. And there's been unending commercial and residential development along its flanks ... with few if any developers asking the mountain spirit's permission to construct their buildings and parking lots.
Some sensitive members of this group have been feeling the mountain's pain. So our humble gathering, ranging from elders to toddlers, created sacred space in the woods. Some were old hands at this sort of thing, and some were first-timers. We called in sacred energy from the heavens to help the mountain heal. And it poured in like a waterfall!
It had been a while since I did ceremony in this traditional way, as taught by the indigenous Q'ero people of Peru. It felt wonderful! No psychoactive substances were consumed, but I felt high as a kite for hours afterward.
It's obvious how much we humans need healing. But it's also good to remember that the earth also needs our healing help. Beaucatcher Mountain is Asheville's primary apu. The more healing it receives, the better it can energetically support us humans. As always, we get what we give.
