Former Marvel editor-in-chief and movie producer Stan Lee has died at age 95, his publicist confirmed Monday. He died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Monday morning after an ambulance rushed him to the hospital. He reportedly had a history of medical issues, and dealt with a bout of pneumonia earlier this year. Lee, who changed the comic-book industry, co-founded Marvel Comics alongside Jack Kirby in 1961, developing legendary characters like the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, The Avengers, and X-Men. He also made cameos in wildly popular Marvel films. Recently, Lee struggled with a myriad of personal issues—including his wife’s death, allegations of elder abuse investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, and a lawsuit against his ex-business manager. According to TMZ, he is survived by his daughter, Joan. Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, wrote on Twitter, “Damn... RIP Stan. Thanks for everything.”

The death toll from the wildfires ravaging Northern and Southern California rose to 31 on Sunday with the discovery of six more bodies—but the state was bracing for even worse news. In Northern California, more than 225 people remained unaccounted for in Butte County, where the town of Paradise was essentially burned to the ground by the blaze dubbed the Camp Fire. More than 6,700 structures have been destroyed and its death toll alone has climbed to 29, making it the most destructive in 85 years of state record-keeping and tying the mark for the state’s most lethal. The Butte County sheriff said he was hoping many of the missing were safe and had just not connected with loved ones. Containment figures late Sunday were listed at 25 percent for the 111,000-acre blaze. Meanwhile, in Southern California, two people were found dead and at least three firefighters were reported injured in the Woolsey Fire, which was expected to grow Monday as strong Santa Ana winds threatened to fuel the flames across 85,000 acres between Ventura and Los Angeles counties. As of Monday morning, the vegetation fire was listed at 15 percent contained, as forecasters put up “red flag” warnings for all of Southern California, with gusts as high as 50 mph expected and no rain in sight.

A photo posted on social media appears to show dozens of high-school students giving the Nazi salute. In the image—which was originally posted in a private album tagged #BarabooProud—a group of about 50 students from Baraboo High School in Wisconsin are seen smiling and posing while doing the Nazi salute. Some students also appear to be giving a white power salute. Jordan Blue, a student who appears visibly uncomfortable in the photo, told journalist Jules Suzdaltsev that the boys from the class of 2019 took the photo during junior prom. “The photographer took the photos telling us to make the sign, I knew what my morals were and it was not to salute something I firmly didn’t believe in,” he said in a statement. “I attend BHS, these classmates have bullied me since entering middle school, ... nothing has changed.”

The photo has drawn condemnation from other students and the Baraboo school district. “The photo of students posted to #BarabooProudis not reflective of the educational values and beliefs of the School District of Baraboo,” said Baraboo School District Administrator Lori M. Mueller on Twitter. “The District will pursue any and all available and appropriate actions, including legal, to address.” The Baraboo Police Department also said it’s assisting the school district with its investigation.

Myanmar’s leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been stripped of a prestigious human rights award by Amnesty International due to “her apparent indifference to atrocities committed” against the country’s Muslim Rohingya minority. Aung San Suu Kyi received Amnesty International’s highest honor, the ambassador of conscience award, in 2009 while she was still under order of house arrest by the Myanmar government and actively advocating for peace and democracy. At the time, she was described as “a symbol of hope, courage and the undying defense of human rights” by Irene Khan, Amnesty International’s then secretary general.

Since her release from house arrest, the Nobel Peace Prize winner has failed to acknowledged or condemn the atrocities committed against Rohingya people in her country. “Today, we are profoundly dismayed that you no longer represent a symbol of hope, courage, and the undying defense of human rights,” Amnesty International’s Secretary General Kumi Naidoo wrote. Myanmar’s military have carried out killings and gang rapes against the Rohingya with “genocidal intent,” according to UN investigators. As a result, more than 700,000 Rohingya have fled Myanmar to Bangladesh. In September, Aung San Suu Kyi defended the imprisonment of two Reuters journalists for investigating the massacre of Rohingya in Myanmar.

A 29-year-old man is suing former Pennsylvania priest Bruno Tucci, along with current and former Catholic Church officials, for alleged sexual abuse he endured between 1999 and 2001. Tucci is among the 301 priests named in a recent Pennsylvania grand-jury report that claims more than 1,000 victims were abused by priests over the past several decades. Unlike the vast majority of these cases, the alleged victim’s case falls within the statute of limitations for prosecution in Pennsylvania. The lawsuit—which also names the Allentown Diocese Bishop Alfred Schlert, former Bishop Edward Cullen, and a treatment center for priests—alleges that Tucci groped the man, identified as “John Doe,” when he was between the ages of 10 and 12 and an altar boy at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Nesquehoning.

According to the grand-jury report, the diocese first became aware of sexual-misconduct allegations against Tucci in 1991, after he’d been a priest for 20 years. When confronted, Tucci admitted the abuse but claimed it was “just touching” and not “sodomy,” the report said. He was then sent to a treatment center for priests with personal problems, only to be released to another Pennsylvania parish a year later. The lawsuit states that Tucci had skin-to-skin contact with Doe, whom he told to put his arms out “like Jesus on the cross” before undoing his pants and fondling him. Tucci remained in ministry until 2002, when he chose to retire. Several other male victims have come have come forward over the years making similar claims against Tucci.

Researchers believe the rise of autonomous vehicles (AVs) may mean a rise in car sex, Fast Company reports. A paper published in the Annals of Tourism Research states that various aspects of roadside tourism may change with the increased use of AVs—including eating, sleeping, and more intimate activities. “People will be sleeping in their vehicles, which has implications for roadside hotels. And people may be eating in vehicles that function as restaurant pods,” Scott Cohen, deputy director of research of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at the University of Surrey, told the magazine. “That led us to think, besides sleeping, what other things will people do in cars when free from the task of driving? And you can see that in the long association of automobiles and sex that’s represented in just about every coming-of-age movie. It’s not a big leap.”

The study also projected there might be a change in prostitution as AVs become more mainstream, with Cohen claiming it’s “not impossible or that far-fetched to imagine the red light district on the move.” Cohen said AV sex would become commonplace in the 2040s, and predicted that AV manufacturers would produce cars designed with sex in mind. “Of course sex sells,” he said, “and there’s likely to be a capitalization on this in terms of commercial interest.”

Donald Trump has demanded that contested Florida elections are handed to Republican candidates Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis, claiming without evidence that ballots have been forged or hidden. Florida’s U.S. Senate race between Scott and incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson went to a recount because of the narrow margin between the two. The state’s gubernatorial race between Democrat Andrew Gillum and Republican Ron DeSantis is also in the midst of a recount. But, citing no evidence, Trump on Twitter urged the elections to be handed to his party’s candidates due to what he called a “massively infected” election process. A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Elections previously said “no illegal activity” was witnessed; Republicans have continued to make dubious claims about instances of voter fraud. “The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged,” the president posted on Twitter. “An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!”

A 26-year-old armed bouncer on Sunday was shot and killed by a police officer responding to a shooting at an Illinois nightclub, according to a report from Chicago’s ABC7. Police initially arrived at Manny’s Blue Room at about 4 a.m. after receiving a call claiming that shots had been fired at the venue. But when one unnamed officer entered the bar, he allegedly saw bouncer Jemel Roberson holding a gun and fatally shot him. “Upon arrival officers learned there were several gunshot victims inside the bar,” the Midlothian police chief said in a statement cited by ABC7. “A Midlothian Officer encountered a subject with a gun and was involved in an Officer involved shooting. The subject the Officer shot was later pronounced deceased at an area hospital.”

Witnesses of the shooting, however, tell a different story. “Everybody was screaming out ‘Security!’ He was a security guard,” witness Adam Harris told WGN-TV. “And they still did their job and saw a black man with a gun and basically killed him.” Friends noted that Roberson’s death is especially tragic because he wanted to become a police officer. “He was getting ready to train and do all that stuff, so the very people he wanted to be family with, took his life,” Rev. Patricia Hill told WGN-TV.
