Around 3:30 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Columbia and is expected to move east, according to the National Weather Service. Officials put a tornado warning in effect for central Howard County near Ellicott City until 4 p.m. Other locations possibly impacted by the storm include Simpsonville, Clarksville and Highland.
