McMaster: Help state unemployment fund, small businesses

S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster recommended a second round of pandemic relief funding be used to replenish the state’s unemployment trust fund as well as help small business which did not receive federal loans.

DHEC developing COVID-19 vaccination plan 

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control said the plan is being formulated in accordance with federal guidance. Initial doses, when available, will be allocated to those at highest risk of contracting the new coronavirus.

Benedict College joins biomedical research program

The South Carolina IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence has been renewed for the fourth year. Benedict joins other S.C. educational institutions receiving a share of a $18.9 million National Institutes of Health grant. 

Duke Energy pushes for electric vehicle use

Duke Energy is pursuing an initiative to develop electric vehicle infrastructure across the Carolinas and has started converting 100% of its own light-vehicle fleet to no-carbon emissions. A new program would add 5,700 vehicle chargers to its service areas.
