Join the MCP! We're looking for new Youth Rights Trainers...
Are you a young person with experience of the UK immigration or asylum systems and interested in paid work co-delivering our training programme? The Migrant Children's Project is hiring Youth Rights Trainers on a sessional basis, to be paid at London Living Wage. The training course will run from 27-29 March 2018, and the deadline to apply is 5pm on Friday 16 March. If you are interested, or know any young people who might be, please see our website for more details. ...and a Legal Intern! The MCP is also hiring a legal intern to help with our advice and casework! Funded by the Queen's Trust, we are looking for someone under the age of 25 and seeking a career in promoting and upholding children and young people's rights. Legal aid This month we have published a report on legal aid and access to justice for children. Rights without remedies draws on evidence from CCLC's legal advice services to demonstrate the impact of the 2013 legal aid cuts on immigration, family and education law, and provides recommendations to the government to take steps to address this impact. It highlights that alternates to legal aid are not working, and without funding for legal advice, children and young people have been left homeless, without legal status, excluded from education and separated from their families. New Home Office guidance on family and private life applications
The Home Office has published new guidance this month for those making immigration applications on the basis of their family and private life. This guidance aims to tell decision makers how to deal with Article 8 private/family life applications on a ten year route to resettlement.
