Legal aid This month we have published a report on legal aid and access to justice for children. Rights without remedies draws on evidence from CCLC's legal advice services to demonstrate the impact of the 2013 legal aid cuts on immigration, family and education law, and provides recommendations to the government to take steps to address this impact. It highlights that alternates to legal aid are not working, and without funding for legal advice, children and young people have been left homeless, without legal status, excluded from education and separated from their families. The Home Office has published new guidance this month for those making immigration applications on the basis of their family and private life. This guidance aims to tell decision makers how to deal with Article 8 private/family life applications on a ten year route to resettlement. For more information on family and private life applications, see our fact sheet here.
