Voices 2017: a writing competition for children in care Last year our sister charity Coram Voice launched a writing competition for children in care. This year, Voices returns with up to £100 in prizes and a special category for migrant young people! The competition is open to all young people who are in care or who are care leavers. Entries will be judged by a panel of judges including well-known authors and journalists who have a special interest in the care system or experience of being in care. The competition closes on Tuesday 21 February 2017 at midnight, and you can find the entry form and more information here. CCLC training gets some real experts! Last year CCLC recruited and trained young people with experience of the UK immigration system to help us deliver our training programme. If you book a place on training taking place at our London campus in the next few months, it may be co-led by one of our newly accredited Youth Rights Trainers! We're working to develop some new courses on access to education and an introduction to the immigration system, which we hope to deliver in lots of different places for free. If you're interested in booking some training then visit our eventbrite page, or have a question about our Youth Rights Trainers or would like to commission some youth-led training, get in touch at mcp@coramclc.org.uk or call 020 7713 2028. Opportunities for young people through Coram's Young Citizens programme Coram, the umbrella charity for Coram Children's Legal Centre (that's us!) are looking for young people who are passionate about using their experiences of making a life in this country to work with and represent the views of more children and young people who want to do the same. That's why they've founded 'young citizens', a new voluntary programme for migrant young people aged 16-25. In return for young people's involvement, they are offering: training and skills development, the opportunity to meet and build friendships with a group of people with shared experiences, and travel and refreshment costs. There's a taster day on 5 February for anyone who is interested - and you can register your interest here. If you have queries about these or other issues, please contact our advice line on 0207 636 8505 or email mcp@coramclc.org.uk.
