Even before March of 2020, my freelance editing work had dwindled down to virtually nothing. Without warning, the work-from-home career I had built over the past ten years had vanished. I still worked part-time at my kids’ school, however, so matters weren’t desperate... yet. By the middle of March, though, the school closed for the rest of the academic year. Now I had no job, plus I had three kids home full-time who needed help with remote learning, and I still needed to do all the household chores and finish the last semester toward my MFA degree.
