It will be the first global gathering to focusexclusively on health in these important but often forgotten countries. The summit will be live streamed. The Summit will bring together SIDS leaders and others to discuss the urgent health challenges and needs they face. It will help amplify SIDS voices, promote collaborative action and strengthen health and development partnerships and financing.The Summit occurs at a time when Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face unprecedented health threats. These include:climate changethe ongoing COVID-19 pandemichigh prevalence of noncommunicable diseasesMajor expected outcomes include mobilization of targeted financing and partnerships and a joint statement of priority short-term actions.
