South Hobart Parish Priest, Reverend Michael Tate, tells 936 ABC Radio Hobart Presenter Ryk Goddard that Pope Francis was the inspiration behind the church's 'Buenos Aires' affordable housing units, for women aged over 55.

It started when farmer Fred Perry's kids came home from school about 30 years ago, telling him he needed to take better care of the environment. Now, his small slice of a farming island is home to amazing birdlife.

Tasmania relies on volunteer ambulance officers to respond to emergencies in regional areas and assist paramedics, but volunteering is declining. The paramedics' union is calling on the Tasmanian government to focus on recruiting more paramedics, increase pay and improve working conditions.
