Creating Space through Interior Design |

Optimising space within an interior yacht design is always paramount. But creating a design that appeals to a range of different clients while maximising available storage? That takes vision and skill. Meet W55, GranOcean’s new range of luxurious flybridge catamarans. Interior designed by Vripack, customised by owners. When invited in 2020 by marine consultants Q7 Marine to become the interior design partner for GranOcean’s latest series build, Vripack relished the opportunity. “We were proud to be selected and from the beginning our working relationship with the yard has been a good one,” says Joost Mertens, Designer at Vripack. “The general layout for hull number one had been decided by the shipyard and owner, but we were given quite a bit of creative freedom even so.” |

“Some owners like to tweak a design to their preference, and we support them in that process,” says Mertens. “As yacht designers, we approach the interior considering both style and function. Our Vripack DNA is evident in the many small recesses and integrated shelves we created for storage and in the practical detailing throughout.” |

The W55 interior focuses on natural light complemented by contrasting, well-balanced materials and colours. Soft leathers, textured fabrics and cool woodwork come to the fore. Three separate interior styles provide choice within a customisable design template. The Scandinavian style features light tones, bare wood materials and blue hues. Elegant Chic is more of a traditional approach, using darker woods, warm leathers and burnt orange accents. And Metropolitan offers a masculine bachelor penthouse vibe, with dark woods, steely grey tones and a sophisticated warm orange shade. |

Vripack made improvements to the interior flow, onboard storage and creative detailing. Innovative solutions, such as an extendable cabinet adjoining the galley and main salon with an integrated television screen, make great use of the available space. The staircases have been realigned to give a visual connection as well as a subtle room divider. Signature Vripack detailing, including fiddle rails and diagonal lines, run throughout. |

“We have been overwhelmed with the response from our W55 en W68. 5 sales throughout 2020 and a target of 10 in 2021 allowing organic growth in shipyard keeping the highest standard in engineering and finishes.” Paul Miletta | Director at Q7 Marine |
