Meeting in the Middle

It doesn’t take an expert to realize that marriage doesn’t always mean seeing eye to eye. There are dreams, goals, and hopes each person carries into this union and there are inevitable moments in which compromise is tricky. What if one wants to move and the other wants to stay put? What if one is offered a new job while the other is let go?

One of the consequences of marriage is that two different people are attempting to be one. And as believers, we have the opportunity to love one another well by meeting in the middle. “When Marriage Interferes with Your Goals” by Maggie Johnson is an honest look at what it means to love well and bend to the needs of our spouse in a way that is sacrificial and points to the cross.

My prayer this week is that we will all learn to carry these truths into our relationships, focusing on honoring God by living in obedience, trust, and a shared goal of oneness with Christ.
