Dear Reader: I note that you are a subscriber to the Middle East Forum’s mailing list, a gratis service. I write to ask if you would consider making a tax-deductible contribution to support our work. Providing your support is most easily done at the Forum website by clicking here. You know about our intellectual work, covering a wide-range of Middle Eastern and Islamic topics with an eye to providing the context needed to make tough decisions. You may not know our reach: In the first nine months of 2016, 316 articles by 55 experts appeared in 62 publications; our websites attracted 8 million page views; and our social media posts reached 12 million people. You also may not be aware of our operational work; we are active in Congress, on campus, in court, and beyond. Here are a few examples of our recent activities:UNRWA – In pursuit of our signature foreign policy issue, we held 53 meetings with members of Congress or their staff. This led to language in the House State and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill forcing the State Department to justify UNRWA’s practice of Palestinian refugee proliferation. For more information, see a Jerusalem Post news report.Countering Islamist Infiltration – Our 49 separate meetings with members of Congress or their staff led to: (1) a House bill prohibiting the Department of Homeland Security from funding or collaborating with organizations or individuals associated with the Muslim Brotherhood; and (2) a House bill prohibiting foreigners from countries that do not respect religious liberties from funding religious activities in the United States.Countering Israel-Boycotters – We provided the State of Illinois with the names of 11 companies that boycott Israel; it then barred its pension funds from investing in them. We also testified before the New Jersey State Government Committee; that led to a law prohibiting state pension funds from investing in companies that boycott Israel.George Galloway – We funded a successful defamation action against the notorious George Galloway in London’s High Court. Galloway had accused an ex-aide, Aisha Ali-Khan, of conspiring with the UK Counter Terrorism Command to run a “campaign of dirty tricks” against him. He has withdrawn the allegations, paid damages, and agreed to pay her legal costs.CAIR – We funded a fraud lawsuit against the Council on American-Islamic Relations in federal court, which an appeals court recently returned to district court for a full trial. Soon a court of law will weigh evidence showing that CAIR defrauded clients seeking legal counsel.Iran’s Regime – We partially funded a case in the U.S. Court of Appeals that made $9.4 million in unfrozen Iranian assets available to American victims of a 1997 suicide bombing in Jerusalem. In brief: Our analysts influence the public debate. Our operations get things done. Our funds encourage and enable allies. You will soon receive the inaugural issue of MEF Monthly, containing more information about our activities, events in your area, the launch of MEF-TV, and more. I look forward to keeping you informed about our work. Our readers are important to us. I hope we are important to you – if so, we would be grateful if you would support our work with a donation. Yours sincerely,
