Hey there! We’ve been talking a lot about courses these days. Email courses, membership sites, modules and drip content, PDFs, and more. You can deliver your digital product in any way that you want! And with all the possibilities, where the hell do you even start?! Well, we thought we’d lay out a few of the most-used routes you can take, to get your brain stirring on how you’d like to deliver some wow-ing content to your peeps: The Traditional Online Course This is the kind of course most people think about when you bring up online courses. It’s content divided into modules and/or lessons, recorded or written up, and loaded into a membership site where students can access the content at any time. Pros: easy, hands-off delivery of the content, students can be more self-sufficient Cons: student management (they’ll always be forgetting their password, and they won’t click the “lost password” link), building out the membership site (or finding the right pre-made platform - - - - The Email Ecourse Next we have the email course, the more low-tech sibling of The Traditional Online Course. These are great because they’re easier to get started! You load your content into an email marketing platform [that supports this type of email sequence] and have the content sent out on your schedule to your students. Easy to create, and easy to send. Pros: easy to start, easy to manage Cons: connecting your checkout to your email marketing platform can be difficult, low-tech-ness can make it hard to charge well for the offering - - - - The Membership Site I’ve put membership site separate from The Traditional Online Course, because beyond The Traditional Course, you can do a lot more with your members in a membership site that just deliver your content. You can create a monthly, quarterly, or annually recurring revenue model and deliver content on an going basis. Pros: more financial security, creating content as you go Cons: student management, recurring payment management, ongoing commitment - - - - The Ebook Taking all of your lovely content and putting it into a beautiful eBook is a great way to make sure that your content is displayed just how you’d like it and easy to deliver to your customer – via PDF. Pros: you can make it beautiful and interactive, very easy to deliver Cons: managing file delivery to the student (and what happens when they lose the file) - - - - There you have it! The 4 most popular course formats – but this is only the beginning. You can combine the types, or do something totally different! If you are struggling with choosing the right format for your course, we can help.
