Dear Yogi, As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re focusing this week on creating inner balance. This is one of the core teachings of yoga – not to seek to eliminate discomfort or difficulty altogether, but to remain steady throughout both the pleasant and the unpleasant, since both are natural and inevitable parts of life. Yoga invites us to keep breathing and stay centered, even when things don’t go our way.
So many of us struggle these days as we’re constantly being pushed to be our happiest, most successful selves. Yet, it can be deeply healing to allow space for everything – the light and the shadow, the ‘good’ and the ‘bad’.
