Conservation: "Beyond Data" MIDCURRENT introduces a new series on fly fishing conservation this week. Written by author, guide and conservationist Bob Mallard, it will highlight issues and answers from the advantage of the most current knowledge--and with an eye toward how we can improve our conservation practices. To start, Bob asks the question "How much data is enough data?" Robert Morselli field-tested the Sage "Trout" fly reel in recent months and this week offers his thoughts on the reel and its standout features. INSIDE THE BOX: Rick Wittenbraker of Howler Bros. reveals some of the creative and stylish apparel the brand has lined up for 2020. Tim Flagler demonstrates how to tie John Atherton’s Atherton #2, or Medium Color Nymph, in this week's featured tying video. "There’s a whole lot of goodness wrapped up in this one little pattern," says Flagler, "including what we’d call today a bright blue hot spot." A noted artist, Atherton wrote and illustrated the fishing classic The Fly and The Fish. He drowned at the age of 52 while fly fishing in New Brunswick, Canada. |
