| | Middle school boy displaces over 100 female track athletes | Becky Pepper-Jackson, a middle school boy who identifies as a girl, has displaced over 100 female athletes more than 280 times, depriving several girls of spots in conference championships, per a recent court motion. Attorneys representing West Virginia and legal nonprofit Alliance Defending Freedom filed a motion with the U.S. 4th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday asking the court to suspend an injunction holding up the full implementation of a state law restricting participation on athletic teams by biological sex. Read more. | Florida pastor, son found guilty for Jan. 6 Capitol riot | Pastor James Cusick of the Melbourne, Fla.-based Global Outreach Ministries Church, his son Casey Cusick and David John Lesperance of Indian Harbour Beach were found guilty last Friday of involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot that delayed the 2020 presidential election results certification. The three men plan to appeal. Read more. | Catholic priest attacked with machete in Louisiana | Roman Catholic priest Father Stephen Ugwu is in stable condition after being attacked at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Meville, La., last Thursday. Johnny Dwayne Neely, 58, has been taken into custody and faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, hate crimes and home invasion. Authorities believe the violent attack was racially motivated after hearing that the suspect allegedly said that he "wanted to kill a black man today." Read more. |
