Hi there, The Trump FCC wants to destroy the Lifeline program, which provides affordable phone and internet access for millions of families living below the poverty line. We can't let them move forward with this heartless plan: Urge the FCC to leave Lifeline alone. Thanks— Lucia |
Hi there, The FCC’s Republican majority is waging a war on poor people. In November, the FCC voted along party lines to move forward with a proposal to dismantle Lifeline, a program that provides a modest $9.25 monthly subsidy to most recipients so that millions of people struggling to get by can connect to communications services. The plan to gut Lifeline is in line with the Trump administration's attacks on poor people, people of color, and people with disabilities. It’s cruel, unnecessary — and even internet service providers don’t agree with it. Tell the FCC majority to leave Lifeline alone. The Lifeline program provides access to both phone and internet services for people living below the poverty line. This mean that Lifeline is a pathway to lifesaving health-care services, employment and educational opportunities, news, self-expression and activism. By rolling back the Lifeline program, the FCC will be taking away phone and internet connections from millions of people. Right now, the FCC is accepting public comments on its cruel and heartless plan. We need as many people as possible to write in and denounce the rollback of Lifeline. Tell the FCC to ditch its plan and leave Lifeline alone. Low-income families, the elderly, people with disabilities, people living on tribal lands, veterans, people of color and unhoused people all need the Lifeline program, and will be disproportionately impacted by this proposal. It’s our job to hold the FCC accountable to the people it’s supposed to serve. Thanks for taking action— Lucia, Jessica, Candace and the rest of the Free Press team P.S. We can’t let the FCC eliminate affordable phone and internet access for millions of poor people. Tell the FCC to stop the attack on Lifeline. |
