Robot be gone! Russia finally commits to removing an eyesore Few forms of architecture get as bad of a rap as Brutalism. The movement is famous for harsh, blocky designs like the kind seen in former communist countries, and the buildings themselves aren’t pleasing to look at. Many of these buildings have been demolished in recent years, and one of the ugliest in the Russian city of Kaliningrad is next on the chopping block. It's called “the Buried Robot” by locals and was named after its bizarre square shape and smaller foundation neck. The building is condemned for structural instability. It’s the end of an era, but Brutalism fans can remember the Buried Robot by purchasing souvenirs made from the rubble of the demolition. The city needs the money.
