Dear Supporter, I’m writing to update you on UNHCR’s response to the horrific missile attack on a residential building in Dnipro that was home to 1,700 people. The attack on Saturday killed 45 people, including six children, and injured another 79. The death toll is expected to rise, with more people likely buried under the rubble and dozens still missing. The UN Refugee Agency was on the ground immediately after the attack. UNHCR and its local partner Mission Proliska delivered emergency supplies to 520 people, including thermal blankets, clothing and hygiene kits. UNHCR also provided 53 survivors with temporary accommodation and transport, assisted 90 survivors with psychological aid, and distributed 225 sheets of tarpaulin to cover damaged windows.
Supporter, it has been almost one year since the war began, but the worst is far from over. People’s homes are being destroyed every day. At the same time, millions are facing unpredictable power, water and heating outages in the middle of a bitterly cold winter. Thank you for continuing to stand with the people of Ukraine. Our rapid response to the attack in Dnipro, and our ongoing aid for the millions who’ve been forced to flee their homes, is only possible with your support.
