| Editor's Note | | The Robots Are (Not) Coming for HR Jobs "Technological unemployment" is a term that has taken on new currency, although its validity is as dubious as it was in the days when Luddites destroyed "newfangled" weaving machinery that threatened their jobs. Artificial intelligence (AI) and robots are the current bogeymen, but the way they are used will actually be a boon to the people who use them, much as weaving machinery actually made life easier for nineteenth-century weavers. For example, human resources professionals will find that, far from taking over their jobs, AI and other emerging technologies will enable them to redefine their roles and refocus "their efforts on more-strategic matters that machines simply can't handle," says Bertrand Dussert, vice president of HCM transformation at Oracle. Learn more about which routine HR tasks are likely to be automated and how that will change HR roles. | — Michael Hickins, Director of Strategic Communications, Oracle What Is a Chatbot? | |
