Question of the Week
Tuesday we asked: Gov. Charlie Baker vetoed an $18-million pay raise package from the Massachusetts legislature to give lawmakers, judges and constitutional officers a salary boost. Both the state House and Senate, though, had majorities to override the veto.
Should Massachusetts legislators' salaries be increased?
  • I voted No but not for the reason in the poll. Given the political climate in Massachusetts produced by the election of Donald Trump, and his recent executive orders, the legislators should consider what Federal funds might not be forthcoming and reserve the $18 million for a better use for our citizens. Rest assured I'm a citizen of Massachusetts and my employer is not crucial to this poll.
  • A state lawmaker is a part-time job, and they should not be compensated at full-time salaries.
