Bitcoin And The Most Valuable Brands Of The 21st Century By Tom Strolight Did you know that Coca Cola’s main ingredient used to be cocaine? Before 1920, the value of a can of Coke was driven by the price of its ingredients but after cocaine was declared illegal, its value became mostly set by its “brand equity,": the value over and above what a product itself is worth, just because of its name. But Coca Cola is not the king of brand equity anymore. In August 1971, the U.S. dollar's brand equity instantly went from 0% to 100%. Before the “Nixon shock," the USD was backed redeemable for gold but, suddenly, its value went from 100% gold to 100% brand equity. One USD is worth what is worth just because of the value of its brand! After all, it is just a piece of paper. Just like the most valuable tech companies in the world, Bitcoin’s value comes from its code. Google is not worth what it's worth because of its possessions or the physical components of its products, but because its code makes people’s lives easier. Bitcoin’s code creates the best money the world has ever seen: immutable, incorruptible, irrefutable, inalienable, unseizable, irreversible and unbreakable. |

Bitcoin Mining Pool BRAIINS Launches Ukrainian Hash Rate Donation By Shawn Amick Braiins, the bitcoin software company behind Slush Pool, the world's first bitcooin mining pool, announced the start of the Hash Rate for Ukraine initiative. The objective is to allow users to donate some of their hash rate to Ukrainian efforts, which means the bitcoin subsidy's from this hash rate will go directly to the NGO Return Alive Foundation. The company initiated the movement by donating 10 bitcoin and 2.5 petahashes of their own mining capacity. A couple of days ago Bitcoin Magazine reported 109 bitcoin in total were donated to the organization, but today, the same address has amassed 132 bitcoin, valued at $5.8 million. As bitcoin proves to be a superior alternative for donations, and we enjoy the benefit of transparency through peeking at the address movements on chain, it is still important that donors think about the privacy issues when donating through static addresses. |

Once A Promised Land For Bitcoin Miners, Kazakhstan Is Shifting The Regulatory Crosswinds. By Zack Voell After China’s total ban on bitcoin mining in the summer of 2021, approximately 50% of the network’s hash rate had to relocate to other countries. Kazakhstan has always been a well known and welcoming destination for bitcoin miners, such that after the ban, it is estimated that Kazakhstan’s share of hash rate went from roughly 10% in June 2021 to 22% in August 2021. However, a series of evolving regulations have made life increasingly difficult for bitcoin miners over the past eight months. For example, in June 2021, Kazakhstan’s president signed a tax code amendment that would tax cryptocurrency mining for the first time ever and the Kazakh Energy Ministry introduced changes to power consumption rules that would limit total capacity for new mining centers. This article offers a deeper explanation and discusses how big Kazakh miners, such as BIT mining, Canaan, The9, BitFuFu and more, are being impacted. |

By Plan Marcus The narrative of different cryptocurrencies often change along the way, from a super computer, to smart contracts, NFTs and even ultra sound money. I understand there could be space for different players in such a vast world of different innovations to pursue. But to me there is a specific need for hard money, incorruptible, impossible to censor, hard to confiscate and with no specific leader. This is what I am looking for. Until today, only bitcoin has the properties I am looking for in my money. Knowing that it won't change is a feature and not a bug. Be careful and do not lose your bitcoin to the short term game of trading it expecting to make more — often, it won't go as planned. Don't give your bitcoin away! With love, Bam |
