Live music fans, this is for you. |
A little chaos can keep you on your toes. Saturday, August 5th is setting the stage to become one of the most historically chaotic entertainment days ever in Detroit. Motown great, Smokey Robinson, is returning to his roots for a special hometown concert at Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit on the same day as six other major performances. Another Michigan living legend, Madonna, is performing her first Michigan show for the first time since 2015 down the street at Little Caesars Arena. Indie rockers, Mt. Joy will be performing at The Fillmore and just blocks away, musician Keb’ Mo’ will be performing at the Music Hall Center. If comedy or sports are more of your speed, comedian Deon Cole will be at the Motor City Casino, WWE's Summerslam is being held at Ford Field, and the Detroit Tigers have a home game at Comerica Park against Tampa Bay. |

76ers’ James Harden visits with Michigan State shooting victim |
Winning shot: James Harden sank the overtime 3-pointer that sent the 76ers to a playoff victory and instantly waved over John Hao, a paralyzed Michigan State shooting survivor who developed a long-distance FaceTime bond with Philadelphia’s star guard. Harden had just scored 42 points, removed his sneakers, signed them and handed them to his new friend. “He brought me good vibes, good energy,” Harden said. Hao was all smiles as he looked on from the court, a needed respite from looming rehabilitation for the international student from China who attended Game 4 as Harden’s guest. |
