Businesses can ‘likely’ mandate coronavirus vaccine for employees, attorney says As the coronavirus vaccine inches closer to U.S. distribution, many are wondering whether or not their employers will mandate vaccination. Last night, during a virtual town hall on the coronavirus vaccine hosted by the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, employment and labor law attorney Sarah Willey said such mandates are likely. “Based on the information we have to date, it appears likely that employers could choose to mandate it but would have to make some exemptions based on disabilities or religious beliefs,” Willey said. Of course, whether or not employers mandate getting the vaccine will be secondary as the first issue for them will be guaranteed limited quantity.
