The first winter storm of 2025 came with heavy snowfall, resulting in multiple snow emergencies, closures and weather advisories in southwest Ohio.

First winter storm of 2025: How much snow did you get?

Here’s what we know about the aftermath of this week’s major winter storm:

• Totals: Butler, Montgomery and Warren counties all had communities reporting at least 9 inches of snow.

• Highest totals: Warren County has some of the highest snow totals in the region, with Landen reporting 11 inches of snowfall and South Lebanon reporting 10 inches.

• Snowfall record: Dayton tied its snowfall record for the day of Jan. 5 on Sunday. The record had been set in 1903 with 2.7 inches. But as of 7 a.m. Monday, Dayton had 6.5 inches of snowfall.

• At the airport: The Dayton International Airport received 6.7 inches of snow. It’s among the most snowfall reported in a two-day period at the airport in the last 10 years.

• Area cleanup: The city of Dayton reported Tuesday that it would likely take 24 hours to make a pass through all neighborhoods with plows. Crews were working 16-hour shifts to plow.

• Low temps not helping: Consistent cold temperatures in coming days will prevent the standing snow from melting. Highs are expected to be in the mid to high 20s until Sunday, when the high should be in the low 30s. High temperatures will then drop into the 20s again early next week.
