Lansing's Cotton-top tamarin family welcomes fifth litter |
Michigan's Cotton-top tamarin family keeps getting bigger as they welcome a new addition. The baby born to parents Yuri and LG at Lansing’s Potter Park Zoo on June 9 marks the fifth successful litter for the pair in the past five years. The baby’s arrival brings the cotton-top tamarin family group to a total of eight members. The older siblings have eagerly taken on the task of caring for the infant, who will gradually gain independence by five months of age, according to zoo staff. |

Up North weekend forecast has showers, thunderstorms in the mix |
Storms and sunshine: This weekend will see a shift in our weather pattern for Northern Michigan, with rounds of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. A mix of sun and clouds will filter through the area this weekend, with mostly clear skies by Sunday. Beach and boating: This is a great time of year to hit the beaches of Michigan or head out on the water. A few water conditions are excellent, and a few weather conditions will make for somewhat marginal boating conditions this weekend. As destructive as a tornado: A microburst packing 100 mph winds uprooted trees and damaged homes in the Upper Peninsula earlier this week. |

Michigan’s most hospitable Airbnb is cabin hideout overlooking ‘Holy Waters’ |
Airbnb has unveiled its most hospitable Michigan host for 2023. Michigan’s “Holy Waters Hideout,” a log home on the Au Sable River owned by Jeanne and Chad, claimed the top spot according to an annual report released this week. Picture this: You’re kayaking down a peaceful water trail, taking in the gorgeous natural surroundings, when you look up to see a stunning, authentic Dutch windmill looming over you. You haven’t been transported to Europe – you’re in Holland, Michigan. For the Swifties: Taylor Swift fans who missed the pop star’s June performance at Ford Field should shake it off, Patrick McElgunn said: He’s got the answer to fill that blank space. Midland-based Grove Tea Lounge, which McElgunn co-owns, will host “Taylor Swift Night” from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 14. |
