More than 100,000 lose power as strong winds rip through Michigan
 
Winter just won't quit. Yet another mixed bag of dangerous winter weather swept through the state on Sunday, bringing anything from blizzard conditions to thunderstorms. Pretty much no matter where you were, high winds tore through the state. Thousands lost power, with some restorations expected to last through at least Monday. The Mackinac Bridge was forced to close due to falling ice. At least one vehicle was damaged while attempting to cross the span. The weather also had noted similarities to the storm that sank the Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975. The strong gusts could continue into Monday. MORE

UM denies mishandling sexual misconduct claims against professor
 
University of Michigan officials have largely stayed silent about sexual misconduct accusation against David Daniels, an internationally acclaimed opera singer. But in a recent court filing, the university denied that it failed to investigate the claims from Daniels' former students. The university's insistence came in response to a lawsuit filed by a former student who claims Daniels drugged and sexually assaulted him. MORE

Spartans snap Michigan's 22-game home win streak
 
In a hotly anticipated top-10 matchup, those Spartans played good ball. No. 10 Michigan State emerged victorious on Sunday vs. in-state rival Michigan, toppling the No. 7 Wolverines 77-70. The win ended MSU's three-game skid against Michigan while simultaneously snapping the Wolverines' 22-game home win streak. Michigan won't have to wait long for a shot at revenge: the teams will meet again in two weeks in East Lansing. MORE

Rosie the Riveter featured on new Ypsilanti directional signs

Visitors to Ypsilanti will have some help getting around town from Rosie the Riveter herself. Well, sort of. New signs have been erected around town and in neighboring Ypsilanti Township, featuring silhouettes meant to highlight Ypsi's "true-grit attitude." Rosie the Riveter and historic cars are among the subjects adoring the new signs, a nod to the area's history with the nearby Willow Run plant. MORE
