Hospital workers are carrying the weight of COVID-19, and it's crushing them Much of Lindsay Muenchen’s team of fellow hospital caregivers worked side-by-side throughout the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, leaning on each other in the face of exhaustion and unknowns. Even when the toll on her mental and emotional health became difficult to overcome, the 29-year-old Sparrow Health nurse said it was hard to get away to recharge, and no time off could really allow her to cope with what she had seen in the hospital. So she stayed. “It was hard to almost leave my coworkers in the dust with all this going on,” Muenchen said. “I felt like during the surges I needed to be here with them because they had already been through so much.” READ MORE Canadian border reopens today: Here's what you need to know After 17 long months, Americans will finally be able to visit Canada again – some of us, anyway. If you’re desperate to feel the spray of Niagara Falls on your face, or simply want to say “Eh” to a long, lost friend in Toronto, today is a very noteworthy day. It's the day the 5,525-mile border between the U.S. and Canada finally reopens, at least partially. That might as well be the official slogan of the Detroit Lions, the only team to exist for all the Super Bowls and never make any of them. And it sure doesn’t look like that drought will end this season, when they are favored to lose all 17 games.
